报告人简介：刘际明，香港浸会大学计算机科学系讲座教授，IEEE Fellow，香港浸会大学理学院院长，健康信息中心主任。研究领域：数据分析、数据挖掘、机器学习、复杂网络分析、数据驱动的复杂系统建模、数字医疗以及自治计算等。
报告摘要:
Complex networks provide a natural way of modeling and characterizing social, biological, ecological, and technological systems. This talk will present several research issues in complex network-based data analytics. Specifically, the talk will highlight some of the scalable methods for solving the problems of mining and unveiling hidden structural patterns in networks, as well as the analytic models for evaluating and predicting intrinsic dynamical behaviors. In addition, the talk will look into the recent applications in decision analytics, e.g., in the context of public health, for which network-based studies can be useful; these applications concern mapping spatiotemporal patterns of disease risks and understanding health behaviors associated with vaccination.
