讲座摘要：
Proposal writing is an important skill in many cases, such as applying for a student fellowship, writing a Ph.D. comprehensive exam proposal, developing a research project in an academic environment, getting resources for a business startup, and initiating a new project in a company. It plays a critical role in career success and advancement for faculty. Training on proposal writing can also help students be more goal-oriented and resourceful. In this talk, I will explain how a proposal is usually developed and reviewed. I will elaborate some basic elements of a proposal. I will suggest some tips of proposal writing and address some related ethics issues.
报告人简介：
Dong Xu is James C. Dowell Professor and Chair of Computer Science Department, with appointments in the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center and the Informatics Institute at the University of Missouri. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1995 and did two-year postdoctoral work at the US National Cancer Institute. His research focuses on bioinformatics and computational biology. He has published more than 260 papers. He was elected to the rank of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow in 2015. He is Associate Editor-in-Chief of “IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.” He is also on the Editorial Boards of “Scientific Reports” and “Current Protein and Peptide Science.”
